Alpacas are cousins of the Llama and Paco-Vicuna. They are smaller than the llama and are known for their fine fiber. They are fun to own, very serene and relaxing to watch. Alpacas prefer a three sided shelter to being cooped up in a barn. They are easy keepers, they eat very little food each day which would be equivalent to that of a large dog. There are two kinds of Alpacas common in the United States: (1) the SURI alpaca, which has fiber looking like dreadlocks and is very silky, and (2) the HUACAYA (wa-ki-a) which is a more colorful fiber, extremely fine and gives the alpaca a wooly, round appearance. All our Alpacas are owner surrendered. We have no background information on any of them. They are not for breeding and you will be required to sign such an agreement when adopting from us.
