Horses
Bubba
Bubba – is a 31 year old Sorrel Paint. He came to us in 2013 nothing but skin and bones but has come a long way since then. He has trouble keeping weight on so he is fed a special diet of Sr. Equine, Strategy Healthy Edge and Weight Builder, plus as much hay as he wants. Even though old in age he is young at heart. He still runs with the other horses at BRRARI and continues to be an active member of the herd. Because of his age, Bubba will remain a resident at BRRARI. Bubba’s monthly upkeep is estimated to be @ $ 330.00. Click below to donate to Bubba’s care.
Cody
Cody is a 5 year old Bay Thoroughbred Cross with back leg deformity. He is the class clown at BRRARI. He is a lover of life. Just looking at him you would never think that anything was wrong. He keeps up with the herd, in fact, even taunts them with his antics. He is forever trying to find branches, wood, hoses, bowls, anything to either hit or toss at the other horses. Unfortunately, Cody can never be ridden. He seems to be okay with that as long as he has others around to play with. Cody will remain a resident at BRRARI. Cody’s monthly upkeep is estimated to be @ $ 255.00 Click below to donate to Cody’s care.
Zuma
Zuma is a 19 year old APHA Bay Tobiano Horse. It is believed that her background in one of abuse. She came to BRRARI in 2009 at which time she was diagnosed with ring-bone. Believed now to be self-fused she is capable of light riding only. Zuma has an intense fear of being loaded into a trailer. In 2017 she sustained a face injury when she was being loaded into a trailer for a potential adoption. At that time we decided we would let her reside here at BRRARI’s sanctuary. Zuma’s monthly upkeep is estimated to be @ $ 255.00. Click below to donate to Zuma’s care.
Goats
Flake
Flake is believed to be a Boer goat. He was owner surrendered to BRRARI in 2010. He suffers with arthritis in both his front legs which is believed to be a result of an injury when he was young. Flake has had several vets access and treat him throughout the years he has been with us. He has had several treatments which have been to no avail. He is such a sweet boy, he loves attention and treats. He especially likes animal crackers and his cookies (with meloxicam baked into them). Your heart can’t help but melt when he looks into your eyes with his big brown eyes. We continue to search for a treatment that will help Flake. Flake will remain a resident at BRRARI. Flake’s monthly upkeep is estimated to be @ $ 47.50. Click below to donate to Flake’s care.
Nigel
Nigel is a 5 year old Nubian Goat. He is such a sweet gentle giant. Even though he towers over the other goats here, he is still insecure and looks to us at BRRARI for reassurance. He is very loving and childlike in many ways, in that he will run behind one of us for protection when frightened. We have chosen to allow Nigel to remain here under our protection as a permanent resident. Nigel’s monthly upkeep is estimated to be @ $ 47.50. Click below to donate to Nigel’s care.
Pigs
Higgins, Coco, & Penelope
Higgins, Coco, and Penelope are Pot Bellied Pigs who were owner surrendered to us in 2018. At the time of transfer we promised the family that they would not be transferred or adopted out, therefore all three will remain here under our protection as permanent residents. This trio’s monthly upkeep is estimated to be @ $ 155.00 per pig. Click below to donate to Higgins, Coco, and Penelope’s care.
Sheep
Rocco & Gale
Rocco and Gale are Jacob Sheep and are part of Yanni the Yak’s herd. Rocco, the male, at one time had 4 horns – but one broke and now he only has three and a half. Gale is the female and only has two horns. The sheep are friendly but run when someone tries to get too close. Both are older than dirt and will remain here as permanent residents. This duo’s monthly upkeep is estimated to be @ $ 50.40 per sheep. Click below to donate to Rocco and Gale’s care.
Yak
Yanni
Yanni is a long haired (bovid) YAK found throughout the Himalayan region of south Central Asia, the Tibetan Plateau and as far north as Mongolia and Russia. Most yaks are domesticated. They also have big horns on either side of their head. Yaks also do not “moo” like cows. They actually make no sounds. Yanni loves snow. He doesn’t like metal fences and can jump four feet over them. He likes sweet grain that is fed out of people’s hands. Because Yaks are a meat group for many today, we have promised the owner upon his surrender that he would remain here as a permanent resident. Yanni’s monthly upkeep is estimated to be @ $ 115.00. Click below to donate to Yanni’s care.
Dogs
Egypt
Egypt is a 5 year old Bulldog/Pit mix with extreme allergies. Allergy testing has revealed that she is literally allergic to almost everything under the sun. She came to us at the age of 11 months with mange. Because of her compromised immune system, she suffered on and off with mange for over a year. It wasn’t until we switched her to turkey and rice that she began to show some improvement. After learning of the results from the allergy tests, we had to switch her to salmon which is the only type of meat that she could eat with little or no allergic reaction. In addition to her salmon based diet, today, she is on APOQUEL tablets once a day in addition to CYTOPOINT Injections every 8 – 10 weeks. Although Egypt is more than welcomed to stay here at BRRARI, we would like for her to find her forever home with a family that is willing to take on the responsibilities of her care. She is the greatest, sweetest gal you will ever meet. Egypt’s monthly upkeep is estimated to be @ $75.00. Click below to donate to Egypt’s care.
